Rowing Australia today announced the final crews selected to represent Australia in the Senior A Women’s Coxed Eight and the Lightweight Women’s Quadruple Scull.
The Lightweight Women’s Quadruple Scull will race at the 2015 World Rowing Championships in Aiguebelette and are coached by UTS’ Ellen Randell. The crew is made up of Sarah Pound, Laura Dunn, Maia Simmonds and Georgia Miansarow. Miansarow has made the step-up from the U23 level, where she won a bronze medal last year in the Lightweight Women’s Double at the 2014 U23 World Rowing Championships, to be selected in the crew that last year won silver at the 2014 World Rowing Championships.
Meanwhile, the Women’s Coxed Eight that will compete at World Rowing Cups 2 and 3, is as follows: Alexandra Hagan, Charlotte Sutherland, Rosie Popa, Hannah Vermeersch, Renee Chatterton, Meaghan Volker, Katrina Bateman, Lucy Stephan and coxswain Sarah Banting. After the World Cups, the crew will be reviewed ahead of the 2015 World Rowing Championships. The crew is being coached by ACTAS’ Andrew Randell and before heading to Europe will travel to New Zealand to compete against the New Zealand Women’s Coxed Eight in a pre-organised training camp.
