Close but not close enough for Uniroo rowers

The below is an extract from the Australian Uniroos round-up of the Australian performances at the 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade. Congratulations to all the Australian rowers selected to compete at the event.

In the coxless fours, University of Melbourne duo Hedda Cooper and Claudia Zucchelli combined with Caitlin Cronin (University of Queensland) and Sarah Zillmann (QUT) to finish sixth in the A final.

They rowed strongly for the first 1500m before tiring to over the final 500m to record 6:50.28.

Alice Arch (University of Melbourne) and Alice Doring (QUT) finished fourth in their heat (7:42.89) in the lightweight doubles sculls and headed to the repechage where they improved their time to 7:39.69 for third to win a spot the B Final where they finished 3rd in 7:22.61 to ranked ninth overall.

Taylor Wilcynski (University of Tasmania) booked a place in the men’s single s semis but was unable to start due to an ongoing back injury.
