Rowing Australia today released the following updates to the Australian Rowing Team that is set to compete in Aiguebelette, France at the 2015 World Rowing Championships.
Renee Chatterton (SA/SASI – Adelaide University RC) of the Senior A Women’s Eight has suffered rowing-related injury and will no longer be able to compete at the World Championships. Chatterton has returned home to Australia to recover from her injury.
As a result of Chatterton’s injury, Rowing Australia today announced the two reserves named for the Australian Women’s Eight as Sophie Sutherland (VIC/Mercantile RC) and Georgina Howe (VIC/VIS – Princeton). Both Sutherland and Howe will train with the Australian Women’s Eight, with a final decision on which athlete will assume Chatterton’s seat in the boat to be announced in due course.
In addition to the above, Rowing Australia confirms that Alexander Lloyd (NSW/NTC-Canberra – Sydney Rowing Club) of the Senior A Men’s Four was involved in a road bike accident in Italy earlier this week. Due to the extent of Lloyd’s injuries he will no longer be able to compete at the 2015 World Rowing Championships in Aiguebelette, France and will be returning to Australia to recover. Rowing Australia will announce a replacement for Lloyd in the Men’s Four in due course.
