Update to the Australian Rowing Team

Rowing Australia today (Sunday 23 August) announced the following update to the Australian Rowing Team. Due to an injury to Perry Ward, the Lightweight Men’s Coxless Four will now no longer compete at the 2015 World Rowing Championships.

Ward featured in a crew with Tim McDonnell, Nick Silcox and Darryn Purcell and Rowing Australia has made the decision instead to enter Purcell and Silcox into the non-Olympic boat class of the Lightweight Men’s Pair, while McDonnell will race in the non-Olympic boat class of the Lightweight Men’s Single Scull.

Subject to the levels of performance of crews at the Australian Rowing Team Selection Trials in February next year a decision will be made as to whether Rowing Australia will send a Lightweight Men’s Coxless Four to the 2016 Olympic Qualification Regatta in Lucerne ahead of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
