Katherine Ginbey appointed Chief Commercial Officer of Rowing Australia

Rowing Australia today announced the appointment of Katherine Ginbey as its Chief Commercial Officer.

This newly created position will see Ms Ginbey drive the sport’s commercial and marketing strategies, including growing the reach and profile of rowing nationally and identifying new revenue streams across sponsorship, licensing, events and fundraising.

A key component of the role will focus on the commercial growth of the 2016 and 2017 Sydney International Rowing Regattas, working closely with Rowing Australia’s major stakeholders for the event, including Destination NSW.

Former General Manager Commercial at Swimming Australia, Ms Ginbey has a wealth of commercial experience including leading the development of the BHP Billiton Aquatic Super Series, a major international swimming and water polo event held in Perth annually.  Most recently she has overseen commercial growth as Head of Commercial Partnerships at Essendon Football Club.

Rowing Australia Chief Executive Officer, Michael Scott said: “Katherine brings a fantastic depth of commercial and marketing knowledge across both Olympic and professional sport.

“Her substantial experience will be used to grow the sport’s commercial revenue so that it can be invested into the expansion of rowing.”

Ms Ginbey said she is extremely proud to be part of one of Australia’s most successful and iconic international sports.

“Rowing has a rich history of success on the world stage and a strong national participation footprint within Clubs and Australian schools. Capturing all ages from Junior through to Masters this platform provides substantial opportunities for the sport to grow its commercial revenue.

“I am eager to build on the work already undertaken by the sport at both a national and state level within this space and support the vision to become the number one rowing nation in the world,” said Ms Ginbey.

Ms Ginbey will join Rowing Australia on 28th September.
