Pirates Sports Club competing in iconic Around the Bay

We wanted to highlight an exciting project that some of the Rowing Victoria members are undertaking.  The Pirates Sporting Club recently contacted us to let us know that they will be competing in the iconic Around the Bay on 11 October 2015.

It’s called #Project222 – the 27 strong team will be riding and ROWING 222km’s to help 222 kids from The Smith Family. What makes #Project222 unique is how they will be doing it.  The 210km ride will be completed using the Melbourne Bike Share ‘Blue Bikes’ and the team have cashed in their ferry tickets and will instead be completing the 12km Queenscliff to Sorrento leg in Surf Boats.  210 Blue Bike + 12 Surf Boat = 222….beautiful in simplicity, sovaldi whilst mad in theory!

222 is also the number of Smith Family kids the Pirates are looking to support for 12 months.  The Smith Family are looking raise $1.2m in total from the estimated 12, 000 riders this year.  For perspective, the 27 Pirates alone are targeting an amount of $130,000, so all support from the Rowing Victoria community would be warmly welcomed.

If you would like to know more, the team have a promotional video which you can view here.
