Para-rowing Update

This week’s para-rowing update had a number of interesting updates for the rowing community to hear about, including news from the Rowing Australia December Selection Trial #1 was held in Penrith from 9 to 11 December 2015. A total of 16 para athletes and two coxswains across all sport classes were invited and post-trials, Senior Coach – Para-Rowing, Gordon Marcks shared the below update:

“A highlight for the year is always the December Time Trial and this month’s trial was significant for a number of reasons.

It’s the first opportunity in the season for athletes to get together from across the country and compare their performances on the water. It is also a great opportunity for athletes to compare their boat class against some of the World’s best, giving some indication of potential for the international season to come. Numbers were much higher than in recent years characterised by improved performances and many new faces to the national scene, particularly in the Leg, Trunk and Arms (LTA) category.

“It was great to see everyone working their way through the challenges of the week and we were strongly encouraged by everyone’s efforts and results. From here, we look forward to individual erg testing in January and the NSW State Championships and National Team Trials in February.”
