The Rowing Australia LTA Camp began this week in Canberra, running from 26 to 31 January. Athletes arrived in the afternoon of 26 January and attended an Australia Day themed dinner at the AIS before being up bright and early for a morning row.
The athletes being hosted this week are Kate Murdoch (Nepean/NSWIS), Davinia Lefroy (WA Rowing Club), Sara Waitzer (Tasmanian University/TIS), Jeremy McGrath (Balmain/NSWIS), Brock Ingram and Kevin Wall (both WA Rowing Club). The coxswain for the camp is Jo Burnand, while the coach is Lindsay Callaghan (Nepean).
The focus of the camp is primarily based around on water sessions in the 4+ and 2-, however a fun bonding activity took place on Thursday afternoon with the ahtletes heading to a local Canberra pool, where, while aiming to be enjoyable, the athletes were put in a situation where they were required to work together to achieve a common goal.
Camp attendees will also compete in a local Canberra regatta on Saturday 30 January before heading home on Sunday 31 January.
