Rowing Australia, in conjunction with the Australian Sports Commission, has partnered with Symplicit, a customer-led innovation firm to map out a customer experience and digital strategy and corresponding delivery roadmap for rowing in Australia.
The intent of this project is to discover how the various organisations that make up the rowing industry in Australia can collaborate to grow customer participation. The focus of the project is on how best to engage and serve the those involved in rowing in order to ensure the future success of the sport in Australia.
The project has made excellent progress to date. Activities have included:
- Kick-off workshop with the Rowing Australia leadership team
- Discovery workshop with 22 key stakeholders drawn from several states providing perspectives from Club and Masters rowers, high performance athletes, Club administrators and coaches and CEOs of State rowing organisations.
- In-depth interviews have been conducted with customers of the sport of rowing from Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Australian Capital Territory and South Australia. Interviewees ranged in experience from people who have just completed a “Learn to Row” course to current and former Olympic level competitors, club administrators and committee members to boat race officials with state, national and international experience.
The next activity will be an Innovation Workshop led by Symplicit. The workshop will bring 20 plus stakeholders, from across the rowing world, to collaboratively design the digital future of the sport in Australia. Symplicit will guide attendees through a series of co-design activities, and together they will generate a series of big concepts and practical solutions that will form the basis of rowing digital strategy and transformation over the next five years.
