Please see below note from the Athletes’ Commission in regards to requesting nominations for the Chair of the Athletes’ Commission
Welcome home to those who have returned from the World Championships, and congratulations to everyone on some fantastic results for the Australian Rowing Team, culminating in 33 World Championship medalists.
As a matter of priority, we need to elect a Chair for the Rowing Australia Athletes’ Commission (RAAC). Hannah Every-Hall is the incumbent Chair, with her term expiring at the end of October. Hannah is eligible for re-election, but in accordance with its’ Charter, the Athletes’ Commission is also seeking nominations from individuals that are eligible for the position of Chair for the RAAC. The successful candidate requires passion, experience and the desire to make a significant contribution to both the Commission and the RA Board.
The Chair cannot be a current Australian team rower, but must have competed on the Australian Rowing Team in the past 8 years.
The Chair acts as the voice of the athletes on the Rowing Australia Board (as a full voting member) and coordinates the RA Athletes’ Commission.
We encourage all those of you who are interested in this role to submit an expression of interest, including a brief CV, to Matt Treglown: [email protected].
The process for consideration for the position will work as follows:
5pm Tuesday 23rd October: Deadline for nominations. Please think about who you would like to represent you. Self-nominations are accepted (and encouraged- since the role requires a large time commitment, we need a highly motivated individual in the position).
By 5pm 30th October: Rowing Australia Athletes’ Commission to discuss candidates. At this point, RAAC may nominate someone to the RA Board or put candidates to a vote by the current Australian Senior A Team members. The vote (if required) will be conducted during this time.
Wednesday 31st October: RAAC meet via teleconference to confirm nomination.
Saturday 3rd November: RA Board to consider nomination by circular resolution at the scheduled board meeting.
The remaining members of the RAAC, with administrative assistance from Rowing Australia, will facilitate this process.
