2018/19 National Training Centre Intake Announced

Rowing Australia is pleased to announce the two athlete groups we have welcomed into both the men’s and women’s National Training Centres for the 2018/19 season and who are now training or transitioning at these two facilities.

Intake 1 received automatic entry to the NTCs having competed at the 2018 World Rowing Championships and meeting the required performance standards. These athletes have commenced training at their respective National Training Centres. Intake 2 received an invitation to their respective NTC having taken part in the recent NTC Testing Camps. Athletes for Intake 2 will begin transitioning into the NTCs in the coming weeks.

While there are a number of 2018 Australian Rowing Team members returning in Intake 2, there are some familiar and new names joining the centres.

2016 Olympic silver medallist, Cameron Girdlestone joins the Reinhold Batschi Men’s National Training Centre, along with 2016 Olympic reserve and Harvard graduate James Medway. A new addition is David Batholot, who in 2016 won the Rowing NSW Novice of the Year. The Sydney University Boat Club rower, like Georgie Rowe, is a convert from surfboat rowing.

Joining the Hancock Prospecting Women’s National Training Centre is 2016 Rio Olympian Jessica Morrison along with recent U23 Australian Rowing Team athlete, Bronwyn Cox. Stanford University graduate, Lilly Tinapple has also been selected to make the move over from Swan River Rowing Club.
