Sarah Cook becomes Henley Royal Regatta Steward

Australian Rowing Team alumni and former World Champion was last night announced as one of three new stewards elected to Henley Royal Regatta. The Sydney University Boat Club President and Rowing Australia Council member, representing New South Wales, joins Alison Faiers and Luke Dillon to be elected as a steward for the prestigious regatta.

Sir Steve Redgrave, Chairman of the Regatta’s Committee of Management, said: “We’re delighted to have Alison, Luke and Sarah in their new posts. They’ve all played integral roles at the Regatta in recent years. The Stewards are a tribute to the long-standing history of the Regatta; we look forward to seeing them all in their new roles at next year’s event.”

Ms Cook, who has commentated on the regatta for five years now, joins fellow Australian and Sydney University Boat Club member, John Boultbee, as the only other Australian steward. The duo are in an exclusive group, with the only other Australian to have held the role being the late former Prime Minister of Australia, The Right Honourable Stanley Bruce, Viscount Bruce of Melbourne.
