Rowing Australia (RA) and Rowing New Zealand (RNZ) have today confirmed that the 2020 U21 Trans-Tasman series is officially cancelled due to the Federal Government restrictions in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The U21 Trans-Tasman series was set to be held in July in Australia. RA and Rowing NZ are planning for the series to be held in Australia in 2021.
Rowing Australia Deputy Performance Director, Jaime Fernandez said, “Rowing Australia, in conjunction with Rowing New Zealand, regret to inform the community that the U21 Trans-Tasman will not take place this year. The decision to cancel this year’s event was made by both organisations with the health and well-being of the rowing community front of mind.
“We are working collaboratively to change plans to hold the U21 Trans-Tasman series in Australia in 2021.”
We encourage the rowing community, both those in Australia and New Zealand, to continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation via the relevant State and Federal Health Authorities.
