Crews Race at Gavirate International Para-Rowing Regatta

The 2022 international rowing season opener for the Australian Rowing Team is the Gavirate International Para-Rowing Regatta taking place in Gavirate, Italy over this coming weekend, Friday 13 – Sunday 15 May.

We have seven of our para rowers representing the Australian Rowing Team at this Regatta across multiple events, racing over the 2000m course. This includes Triple Paralympic Silver Medallist, Erik Horrie OAM.

Racing continues over three days and is split into two regattas which provides athletes and crews with more opportunities to establish and develop their race focussed practices and strategies in preparation for the coming international season.

Paul Thompson MBE, Performance Director said:
“This event is a great opportunity for our crews to test their early season speed and is also the first opportunity for some of our new team members to race on the international circuit.

Thompson continued: “This event is particularly special for the para-rowing community as it was created to enable international racing opportunities for the para rowers and there is always such a great atmosphere.”

Best of luck to our crews racing this weekend.
