Rowing Australia is saddened to hear of the passing of Pauline Coates (Née Kahl).
Pauline Rowed for SUBC (Sydney University Boat Club) in the 1970’s and was presented a University Blue in 1978 – the same year she represented New South Wales (NSW) in the Women’s Four. Due to her strong performances for her State, she was then selected as a member of the ART (Australian Rowing Team) Women’s Eight for the 1978 World Championships. She was also selected as an Olympic Team Reserve for the 1980 Moscow Olympics (Women’s Coxed Four).
In the 1990’s, Pauline coached many successful crews at Sydney Rowing Club, Roseville College, and The Shore School respectively.
Pauline passed away on Monday 11th July 2022 following a battle with Cancer.
