#ARC26 - Men's Open Pair Preview

 The open men’s pair is one of the marquee events of the regatta and offers non-National Training Centre athletes an opportunity to put their name on the map and receive trial invitations. Of the 16 entries in the open men’s pair, nine of which come from the National Training Centre in Canberra, home to of the “Men of Burleygriffin“, it’s easy to think they will pick up the top nine of places in the fielded given, they are supposed to be the best this country has to offer, but often a couple of pairs come rise through the ranks and disrupt the field, giving themselves a real opportunity at selection. Every year, this race proves that reputation alone doesn’t guarantee results – and that on the water, it only takes one breakthrough performance to turn outsiders into serious contenders.
