2018 Masters in Paradise

21 October 2018 - 22 October 2018

The Vanuatu rowing association is celebrating is tenth anniversary this year and we are again hosting the Masters in Paradise (MIP) Regatta in October 2018. Located on the beautiful Erakor Lagoon, a protected 4km natural rowing venue to rival the Rotsee in Lucerne, the Port Vila Rowing club boasts a fleet of racing scull and sweep oared boats and an energetic local rowing community. MIP is our major fundraiser to help us send our rowers to international regattas. This year we have rowers competing at the World Junior and World Senior Championships in Europe.

More importantly MIP is most definitely the rowing holiday of the year. Accommodation packages are provided at the Ramada on the lagoon. Your rooms overlook the regatta finish line. You can literally walk out of your room and into your boat.

Sunday’s regatta starts early with the first races beginning around 730am. The sculling boats (singles and doubles and quad) will be raced as divisions with prizes ( wooden carved fruit bats, salu salu necklaces and locally make jewelry) awarded to the winners after each event. The last race of the morning will be the international eights heat between Australia and Vanuatu to compete against the defending champions NZ.

Mondays’ race is a time trial format over a 4km circuit past some special watery scenery, including the Erakor village. That evening you will all be invited to the gala dinner and presentation of the Head of the Lagoon trophy and the corporate regatta winners. Details will be found on our website (www.mastersinparadise.com), on our Facebook page (Masters in Paradise 2018 ) or through our Australian agent at [email protected] or our New Zealand agent at [email protected]
