As part of the deal Hancock Prospecting and the Georgina Hope Foundation will become the official partner of Rowing Australia, as well as the naming rights partner of the team’s Destination Gold pre-departure camp set to take place in Canberra from 22 February to 16 May 2016. This camp will bring the entire Australian Rowing Team together in Australia prior to leaving for competition, a first for the sport.
RA Chief Executive Officer, Michael Scott said: “To have our Destination Gold pre-departure camp supported by Hancock Prospecting and the Georgina Hope Foundation is an extremely positive step forward as we move into this Olympic year.
“In addition to the support we already receive from the Australian Sports Commission, this new partnership will ensure our athletes are provided with an extra boost that will hopefully provide them with the winning edge in Rio.
“This new partnership will see that our rowers are supported in the best possible way in their lead up to major competition, by providing the best science and medicine support, the best coaching in a quality environment and in turn building a high performance team culture.
“Our objective is that by having the crews all together at the camp we will build a strong team culture amongst our elite athletes who are the ambassadors for our sport both now and in the future.”
