Rowing has been a core sport on the Youth Olympic Games program since the event’s inception. At the first Games, held in Singapore in 2010, Australia was represented by two crews: Emma Basher and Olympia Aldersey in the women’s pair and Matthew Cochran and David Watts in the men’s pair. Basher and Aldersey combined to win silver in their event, whilst the men finished with bronze.
In 2014 in Nanjing, twin sisters Tyler and Miller Ferris competed in the women’s pair, finishing fourth in the B Final. Single sculler Thomas Schramko also made the B Final where he was second.
