Rowing Australia has confirmed the list of athletes invited to attend the second round of the 2025 Beach Sprint Selection Trials, to be held at Narrabeen, NSW, from June 16-20.
These trials form a key component in finalising the squad set to represent Australia at upcoming 2025 World Beach Sprint Finals.
Athletes have been invited based on performances throughout the domestic rowing season.
Among the headline invitees is Olympic Gold medallist and Rowsella Spencer Turrin OAM, aiming for a return to the Australian Beach Sprint team after debuting in last year’s Coastal Mixed Coxed Quad.
Fellow Olympian and Rowsella Patrick Holt, a member of the Paris 2024 Men’s Pair, also features on the list.
Several athletes from the 2024 World Beach Sprint Finals have earned a return invitation, including Blake Whyatt, Oscar Scheel-Gamborg, Samuel Forbes, Samantha Blanchard and Elizabeth Newell, highlighting the depth and continuity in Australia’s beach sprint squad.
Rowers from a wide spread of clubs and states, with a strong showing from emerging talent aligned with state institutes aiming to make the team.
The Beach Sprints format, known for its high-energy, fast-paced racing, continues to grow in popularity and prestige.
These trials will help identify athletes capable of excelling on the sand and surf as Australia builds toward LA 2028.
