The 2024 Australian Coastal Rowing and Beach Sprints Championships (#ACRBSC24), held at the stunning Mooloolaba Beach and proudly supported by the Sunshine Coast Council, showcased the best of beach sprint rowing over three days of fierce competition.

The event, which doubled as the Oceania Championships, brought together 127 athletes from across Australia and beyond, including international competitors from Vanuatu and New Zealand, making it a truly global affair.

On Saturday, the excitement was momentarily paused when a boat beached itself, causing a brief delay in the races.

However, this only added to the unpredictability and thrill of the event—because there's never a dull moment at #ACRBSC24!

The highlight of the weekend was undoubtedly the appearance of Paris Olympian and Rowsella Georgie Rowe, who stepped up to compete as she and her team prepare for the upcoming World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals in Genoa, Italy.

Rowe’s participation brought extra energy to the competition, and her presence inspired athletes and spectators alike.

University of Queensland Boat Club (UQBC) dominated the medal tally, leading with an impressive haul of 7.75 gold medals.

Commercial Rowing Club and Melbourne University tied for second place, each securing two golds.

Among the standout athletes, UQBC’s Elizabeth Newell earned three gold medals across different categories, cementing her place as a top contender.

Sam Austin of Brisbane Grammarians and Sam Forbes of UQBC also collected three gold medals each, highlighting the depth of talent at the event.

The championships were a resounding success, and this wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of our volunteers, athletes, coaches, staff, umpires and boat handlers.

Rowing Australia would like to thank everyone that helped with delivery as well as those who participated.

A special thanks goes to the Sunshine Coast Council for hosting this incredible event in such a spectacular location.

As we wrap up the 2024 Australian Coastal Rowing & Beach Sprints Championships, we look forward to seeing our High-Performance athletes continue their journey to the World Championships.

Congratulations to all participants for their outstanding performances, and we can’t wait to do it all again next year at #ACRBSC25.
