Rowing Australia congratulates John Coates AC on his acknowledgment as an Honorary Life President of the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) at Saturday’s Annual General Meeting.
This recognition reflects John’s contributions to Australian sport and the Olympic movement over many decades, including to the sport of rowing, which remains close to his heart.
As a Life Member of Rowing Australia, John has played a pivotal role in the development and success of the sport. He has decades of service in a multitude of influential roles across all levels of the sport, including Sydney Rowing Club, Rowing NSW, Rowing Australia, and World Rowing.
“John’s dedication and influence on Australian sport is unparalleled, and this acknowledgment by the AOC is well deserved,” Rowing Australia CEO Sarah Cook OLY said.
“His ongoing support for rowing has helped shape our sport globally into what it is today and we are proud to see him continuing to be celebrated for his services to sport and the Olympic movement."
