Rowing Australia congratulates Sarah Marriott on being awarded a Tier 2 Scholarship in the prestigious 2025 Sport Australia Hall of Fame (SAHOF) Scholarship and Mentoring Program.
Sarah, an exceptional young rower with an inspiring journey, joins an elite group of emerging Australian athletes receiving recognition and support.
The SAHOF Scholarship and Mentoring Program offers invaluable guidance, financial support and mentoring from some of Australia’s greatest sports champions.
This year, sporting legends such as Susie O’Neill AM, Patrick Rafter, Jana Pittman, Kurt Fearnley AO, Steven Bradbury OAM, and Cheryl Salisbury are among the mentors who will provide one-on-one support to the scholarship recipients.
The program is designed to empower young athletes by helping them navigate the challenges of elite competition while offering a $5000 grant to assist with sporting expenses for Tier 2 recipients like Sarah.
Since beginning her rowing journey in 2019, Sarah has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the sport, while managing Type 1 Diabetes.
Her hard work and dedication have led to numerous victories, including multiple titles at the Australian Rowing Championships and international success, such as a Bronze medal in the Women’s Coxless Four at the 2023 World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Bulgaria.
Most recently, Sarah enjoyed a fourth-place finish in the Women’s Eight at the 2024 World Rowing Under 23 Championships in St. Catharines, Canada.
"I am both humbled and thrilled to be part of the 2025 SAHOF Scholarship & Mentoring Program," Marriott said.
"After missing the 2024 Olympic selection, I am more determined than ever heading into the LA 2028 Olympiad and SAHOF’s support will assist me to make it happen.
“It will be invaluable to learn from experienced elite athletes on how I can improve myself as an athlete both on and off the water.
“I am so grateful for this opportunity to be inspired by other scholarship athletes and for the financial support."
Sarah’s future looks bright as she begins her studies at Stanford University in the U.S.
Her ambition to compete at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games is stronger than ever, and with the support of the SAHOF program, she is well on her way.
