Rowing Australia (RA) abides by the FISA “No Needles Policy” during International Regattas and the International Olympic Committees’ (IOC) “No Needles Policy” during the Olympic Games and endorses the AIS Sports Science/Sports Medicine (SSSM) Best Practice Principles which provide that sports, athletes, coaches and support personnel should demonstrate the highest possible standards of integrity in sport and provide a positive example to all Australians.
RA also endorses and supports the Australasian College of Sports Physicians (ACSP) position statement on supplements in sport, including that there is no role for injections as part of a supplementation program. Injections should only be performed by a medical practitioner. Additional guidance is also provided by the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) Sports Science/Sports Medicine Best Practice Principles.
Rowing Australia has developed this “No Needles Policy” to ensure that Australian rowing continues to provide an environment that delivers world class performances whilst maintaining the highest standards of integrity within the sport.
