Rowing Australia today announced an update to the PR3 Mixed Coxed Four that will compete at the 2018 World Rowing Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Due to injury Kate Murdoch has been forced to withdraw from the team and will be replaced by Alex Vuillermin. The young Victorian rower will join up with the rest of the Australian Rowing Team early next week at the AIS European Training Centre in Italy.
Head Para-rowing coach, Gordon Marcks said, “It’s obviously very disappointing for Kate to have suffered an injury so close to departure for the World Rowing Championships and we wish her all the best with her recovery. We’re lucky to have been able to call on Alex Vuillermin as a replacement rower for Kate. Alex has been a part of our #Train4Tokyo camps in the lead up to para selection trials and knows the athletes in her crew, having rowed with them throughout the season in Australia. While this type of change is not ideal, so close to competition, we’re confident that this development crew will step up to the challenges that lie ahead in Plovdiv.”
