Rowing Australia is saddened to hear of the passing of Christa Diekmann.
Christa was the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Rowing Association (CRA). She passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was a wonderful leader of the CRA, and was the driving force behind Namibia’s bid to host the upcoming 2022 Commonwealth Rowing Association Beach Sprints (CRABS), which will take place in December 2022 in Walvis Bay.
Christa was also a strong member of the Namibia Canoe and Rowing Federation and acted as their Secretary-General for many years. Her daughter, Maike, represented Namibia at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games and today is an important member of the Organizing Committee for CRABS.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Christa’s family and close friends.
Thank you Christa for everything that you have done for our sport, we will always remember the commitment and dedication you have to rowing.
