Melbourne Rowing Club has emerged victorious after a memorable Australian Masters Rowing Championships at Lake Barrington, Tasmania, topping the points tally after four days of spirited racing that went down to the final few strokes.
Australia’s best rowers over the age of 27 made the trip to the Apple Isle from May 8-11 to test their skills in the boat across a range of classes and events and enjoy the company of fellow rowing enthusiasts off the water.
It was the Melbourne Rowing Club that would have the most to celebrate as they took a narrow victory after finishing with 1826.5 points, just ahead of The University of Queensland Boat Club (1187.75) and North Esk Rowing Club (1176.25).

Several races captured the attention of spectators and competitors. A major highlight was the Interstate events, which saw the crews from South Australia come out on top of the medal tally.
Organisers have declared the event a resounding success that engaged and captured the passion and commitment of the Masters rowing community. And there will be more action next year when the Lake hosts the Australian Rowing Championships in April, fresh off another Olympic and Paralympic campaign.
