VIC | Melbourne University Boat Club

Victorian Amanda Bateman, is the younger sister of fellow ARTeam member, Katrina. The youngest Bateman sister, there are three, has represented Australia twice at Junior World Rowing Championships and once the U23 World Rowing Championships. In 2013, Bateman raced in the Junior Women's Quad, finishing seventh overall, while in 2014 she raced in the Junior Women's Single Scull in Hamburg. In 2017, she finished eighth overall in the U23 Women's Four at the World Rowing U23 Championships held in Bulgaria. At the end of 2018 she joined the Hancock Prospecting Women's NTC and was named in the Women's Double Scull with Genevieve Horton for World Rowing Cups 2 and 3 in 2019. The duo went on to represent Australia at the 2019 World Rowing Championships, qualifying the Women's Double Scull for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Bateman and Tara Rigney were selected in the Women’s Double Scull for the rescheduled Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.  The duo won the B-Final (7th Place Ranking).

For the 2022 international season, Bateman was selected in the A.R.T. Women’s Sculling squad.

At the 2022 World Rowing Championships held in Racice, Czech Republic, Bateman raced in the Women’s Quadruple Sculls.  The Quad qualified for the A Final and finished in sixth place.

Looking ahead to Paris 2024, Amanda sets her sights higher alongside Harriet Hudson. Their recent silver medal win at the World Rowing Cup II in Lucerne, Switzerland, showcased their formidable prowess in the women’s double scull race, narrowly edged out by the United States. Though they took the lead in the third 500m, victory eluded them in the final stretch, with only 0.78s separating them from the United States, while Norway secured third place.
