Caitlin Cronin joined the Hancock Prospecting Women's National Training Centre at the end of 2016 and relocated to Penrith from her native Queensland. The Toowong RC athlete is currently studying Chemical Engineering at the University of Queensland while rowing full-time. Cronin rowed in the U23 Women's Quadruple Scull at the World Rowing U23 Championships in in Rotterdam in 2016. In 2017, Cronin was named in the Women's Quadruple Scull for World Rowing Cups 2 and 3 with Genevieve Horton, Rowena Meredith and Leah Saunders and the crew won silver and bronze medals at the World Rowing Cups that year. In 2018, Cronin was once again selected to the Women's Quadruple Scull, racing World Rowing Cups 2 and 3 and the World Rowing Championships where the crew finished ninth overall. Cronin took some time away from the Women's NTC in 2019/20, training in Queensland and New South Wales, before being selected into the Women's Quadruple Scull for the 2021 Final Olympic Qualification Regatta - in a bid to secure a berth for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Cronin and her crew won the Final Olympic Qualification Regatta, in the Women's Quadruple Scull and then went on to win a bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games held in July 2021.
In March 2023 Caitlin was selected to join Australia's women's quad scull team for the 2023 international rowing season. She competed in the Rowing World Cup II in Varese, Italy, and the World Cup III in Lucerne, Switzerland. In both competitions, Caitlin and her team participated in the women's quadruple sculls, finishing in the B-Final and placing eighth overall.
Later that year at the World Rowing Championships in Belgrade, Serbia, Cailtin and her team finished third in their heat and third in the A/B semi-final. This performance secured the Australian women's quad scull boat a spot in the Paris 2024 Olympics.
At the 2024 World Rowing Cup II in Lucerne, Switzerland, Caitlin, along with her teammates Rowena Meredith, Laura Gourley, and Kathryn Rowan, competed in the quad scull event under the guidance of coach Tom Westgarth. The team finished in sixth place with a time of 6:30.43.
The podium positions in the race were claimed by Great Britain (6:17.74), the Netherlands (6:20.10), and China (6:20.86).
