Tobiah (Toby) Goffsassen

QLD | University of Queensland Boat Club

Tobiah Goffsassen took up rowing in Grade Seven after watching his school win the prestigious Head of the River.

Being amongst the exciting atmosphere, Tobiah experienced an incredible sense of community that was present in the rowing shed post-race really sealed the deal for the Queenslander. Better known as Tobes to his mates, the Gold Coaster’s home club and training base is Griffith University Surfers Paradise Rowing Club.

Tobiah was selected as member of the Australian National Rowing Team in 2023, travelling to compete at the International Para Rowing Regatta in Gavirate, Italy.

For Tobiah, becoming a Paralympian would be a dream come true. He says being able to watch all the work he and his family have put in come to fruition would be indescribable and honour he wouldn’t take lightly.

When he’s not training, Tobiah enjoys rugby, golf and going to the beach, and watching FRIENDS.

Toby currently sits in the Stroke seat of the PR3 Mixed Coxed Four.
