Harriet Hudson

Harriet Hudson grew up in rural Queensland, attending Sommerville House boarding school in Brisbane where she learned to row. In 2016, she moved to Sydney to study at Sydney University. She is currently in the final year of her degree in Occupational Therapy.

Harriet Hudson first represented Australia on a world stage at the 2016 World Rowing Junior Championships in Rotterdam, where she finished sixth in the A-Final of the Junior Women's Single Scull. The Sydney Rowing Club athlete then went on to represent Australia at 2017, 2018 and 2019 World Rowing U23 Championships. At the 2017 event, held in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, she won a silver medal in the U23 Women's Quadruple Scull alongside Genevieve Horton, Rowena Meredith and Caitlin Cronin. In 2018 she raced the U23 Women's Double with Ria Thompson, finishing fifth in the A-Final.

In 2019, Hudson partnered with Giorgia Patten in the U23 Women's Double Scull, with the duo winning a silver medal at the 2019 World Rowing U23 Championships in Sarasota, USA.

In 2021, Hudson was selected alongside Rowena Meredith, Caitlin Cronin and Ria Thompson to race the Women's Quadruple Scull at the Final Olympic Qualification Regatta. They qualified for Tokyo by winning the FOQR and then, at the rescheduled Games the crew went on to win an Olympic bronze medal on the Sea Forest Waterway.

For the 2022 international season, Hudson was selected in the A.R.T. Women’s Sculling squad.  At the 2022 World Cup II regatta held in Poznan, Poland – Hudson, Georgie Gleeson, Kathryn Rowan, and Rowena Meredith were selected to race in the Women’s Quadruple Scull.  The crew qualified for the A-Final and finished in 4^th position.

At the 2022 World Championships held in Račice, Czech Republic, Hudson, Rowan, Meredith, and Amanda Bateman raced as the ART Women’s Quadruple Scull crew that qualified for the A Final, and finished in sixth place.

Looking forward to Paris 2024, Harriet has set her sights even higher alongside fellow rower Amanda Bateman in the women’s double sculls. Their recent silver medal win at the World Rowing Cup II in Lucerne, Switzerland, showcased what they’re capable of, with the USA narrowly edging them out of top spot.

Though they took the lead in the third 500m, victory eluded them in the final stretch, with only 0.78s separating them from the United States, while Norway secured third place.
