Howard Croker OAM is a pivotal figure in the world of rowing, renowned for his exceptional craftsmanship and innovation in oar manufacturing.
Beginning his journey in the early 1960s as an apprentice boat builder and a competitive rower, Howard recognised the need for high-quality oars. In 1962, he founded Croker Oars, which has since become a global leader in the industry.
Moving the company to Oxley Island, Taree, in 1977, Howard revolutionized oar manufacturing by incorporating carbon fiber, launching their first carbon fiber oars in 1990.
Today, Croker Oars produces over 10,000 oars annually and is a trusted name among rowers worldwide. Howard's contributions extend beyond manufacturing; he has won state and national rowing titles and continues to coach and mentor the next generation of rowers.
His dedication to the sport and the industry has earned him the Medal of the Order of Australia and recognition as the Manning Valley Australia Day Ambassador.
