J. Doug Donoghue AM, a stalwart of the rowing community, made significant contributions as a rower, coach, and administrator.

Beginning his rowing journey at Sydney High School, Doug joined Sydney Rowing Club and remained a devoted member, serving as Director, Vice-President, and Chair of the Sydney Rowing Club Foundation.

His professional expertise in senior corporate roles was invaluable to the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) and Rowing Australia, particularly during the 1995-96 financial crisis. Doug and John Boultbee's leadership revitalised Australia's high-performance rowing program, culminating in Australia being the most successful nation at the 1996 Olympic regatta.

Doug's dedication extended to commentary roles for Olympic rowing events and involvement in the AOC, where he provided strategic financial advice, contributing to its financial independence.

Honored with life memberships of Rowing Australia, the AOC, and the NSW Olympic Council, Doug's legacy is marked by his unwavering commitment and exceptional service to rowing and the Olympic movement.
