Samantha Morton Van Eybergen
NSW | Sydney Rowing Club
Samantha Morton Van Eybergen, nicknamed Samy, is an accomplished heavyweight sweep rower from NSW. Born in Hong Kong, Samy began rowing at age 20 after setting impressive erg scores during high school at Hong Kong International School and competing in swimming at Tulane University.
Previously, Samy was a member of the RHKYC team Agiplast sailing team and had aimed to compete in the youth America’s cup before its cancellation. Her hobbies include walking, dining out, hosting parties, and shopping. Samy credits her rowing success to the strong teamwork and resilience demonstrated during her campaigns.
When asked who was her greatest role model and why she replied, "Both of my parents. My dad has an incredible work ethic and managed to completely transform his life through hard work and internal drive and ambition. My mum because she is relaxed and laid back and such a lovely person who embraces all of life."
Samy sits in the five-seat of the Women's Coxed Eight.
