Zara Collisson
NSW | Sydney University Boat Club
Zara Collisson is a dynamic sweep rower from Sydney, New South Wales, known for her versatility on both sides of the boat and her growing impact on the international rowing stage. A product of Canberra Girls’ Grammar School, Zara first discovered rowing in 2017 when she raced her very first event at the NSW Head of the River in a Division 5 Quad, an experience she still ranks as one of her most memorable sporting moments.
Originally excelling in cross country, athletics, and soccer as a junior, Zara gravitated toward rowing because it offered the best of both worlds: the camaraderie of team sport and the discipline of individual competition. She flourished in the environment, eventually earning a place at the University of Michigan, one of the top collegiate rowing programs in the United States.
Zara’s international career has already delivered major success. In 2023, she was part of Australia’s Under 23 Women’s Coxed Four that stormed to a World Championship title, earning her a Gold medal and a place among the sport’s brightest young prospects. She backed up that performance in 2024 with a strong showing in the Under 23 Women’s Eight, where the crew finished fourth in a highly competitive field.
A member of Sydney University Boat Club, Zara is known for her endurance, competitiveness, and love of the outdoors. Off the water, she enjoys running, hiking, ocean swimming, watching movies, and most of all, eating. Whether it's fuelling for training or spending time with teammates, she brings energy and enthusiasm to everything she does.
With a world title under her belt and senior ambitions on the horizon, Zara Collisson is quickly becoming a key figure in the next generation of Australian sweep rowing.
Taylor is currently a member of the Australian Women's Sweep - World Cup Squad.
