Australian Beach Sprint Championships 2025 set for sky blue debut

Australia's top coastal rowers will converge on New South Wales from September 18-21 for this year's Australian Beach Sprint Championships (#ABSC25).

This adrenaline-filled event promises a thrilling display of speed, agility and endurance on the sand and water as athletes compete for national glory.

The regatta holds extra significance as beach sprint rowing has been included in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, marking a new era of global recognition for the discipline.

Athletes will compete in various categories, including solo and team events.

Rowing Australia CEO Sarah Cook OLY said she was excited to showcase the brand new Olympic sport in NSW.

"The Australian Beach Sprint Championships will give fans a look at one of the most-exciting additions to the Olympic schedule," Cook said.

"We think Australians are going to fall in love with this format, which combines the technical aspects of traditional rowing with the action of surf sports.

"I know the athletes are going to bring it as they race for Australian titles and I encourage everyone to come along and see why Beach Sprints was added to the program for LA 2028."

The event will attract competitors, spectators and supporters from across the nation, creating a vibrant atmosphere both on and off the beach.

Beyond the races, there will be opportunities for fans to meet Rowsellas, enjoy local festivities and learn more about the growing discipline of coastal rowing.

Further details, including the venue and schedule of events, will be released in the coming months.
