Exciting 2024 Lineup for Under 19 and Beach Sprint Teams

Australia’s next generation of Classic rowing stars and the best of Beach Sprints have been named in their respective teams ahead of their international campaigns.

The Under 19 crews are gearing up for the World Junior Rowing Championships in St. Catherines, Canada, which will take place on August 18-25. There they will join the Under 23 team, with the regatta a combination of the two age groups.

Beach Sprinters have their sights on the World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals in Geno, Italy from September 13-15.

Jason Lane, Head of Pathways at Rowing Australia, said the Under 19's represented the best of our young rowing talent and were ready to test themselves against the best in the world.

“The recent Under 19 selection trials has highlighted the future talent for the 2032 Olympics. After several days of hard racing male and female athletes have been selected in both sweep and sculling categories, highlighting the future potential in all the Olympic categories,” Lane said.

Beach Sprint Lead Coach Laryssa Biesenthal OLY said, "building towards the 2028 Olympic Games the goal for 2024 Australian Beach Sprint Rowing Team is to; explore, reflect, and adapt as we learn what it takes physically, technically, and mentally to be successful on the world stage," Biesenthal said.

"We have selected a strong Australian squad of athletes and coaches that are committed to continually setting and resetting the performance bar higher and higher. This squad is keenly focused on bringing home the best possible results for Australia at the World Beach Sprint Championships in September."

This year's selection highlights the depth of talent within Australian rowing, across multiple disciplines, and sets the stage for what could be one of the most exciting seasons in Australian rowing history, highlighted by the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris.
