The Thursday of the Australian Rowing Championships marks the A-finals of the small-boat portion of the regatta and the first medals being awarded to athletes. Towards the end of the day is the Open women’s pair, which always draws a crowd of young athletes and other spectators to see a selection of the best sweepers in the country race for gold. This year’s running is a truly stacked event, with Australian Team Representatives, world champions, and younger athletes hungry to establish themselves, promising us an entertaining and close race on the waters of Lake Barrington.
