National Club Omnium Regatta

Lake Burley Griffin, 11 - 12 October 2025

This regatta encourages clubs and coaches to form and maintain crew boats for “Club Senior” rowers from early in the season and then compete in existing Club Category events on state calendars, building toward the Club events at the 2026 Australian Rowing Championships.
The eligibility criteria for Club category events combined with the handicap format of the Omnium’s final leg allows almost any standard of crew that trains and races well, to be competitive and win.
The regatta will be hosted and managed by Rowing ACT with the assistance of the RiAAG and RA.

Handicaps

Handicap for 7000 m race - National Club Omnium Crews

  • Each crew’s 2500 meter and 250 metre race times will be calculated back to equivalent 500 metre split times and added together to produce their “Pace” for Day 1.
  • The crew (regardless of category) with the lowest Day 1 Pace will be the Scratch Crew (last starter) in the 7000 metre race.
  • Start times for all other crews competing in the National Club Omnium will be determined by their handicap.
  • Each other crew’s start time (in all categories) for the 7000 metre handicap race will be the difference between their Day 1 Pace and the Scratch Crew’s Day 1 Pace, multiplied by 7.

Category Points

Omnium Points for each category will be accrued on the results of each leg, multiplied by the race multiplier.

The Purpose of the Race Multiplier is to minimise the benefit of "gaming" legs 1 and 2 to improve the handicap for leg 3.

Race Multipliers: |     250m 1 times     |     2500m 2 times      |      7000m 4 times

Winners

Category Champion: The crew in each category with the lowest accrued points across all three legs. In the event of a tie, the crew with the lowest starting handicap for the third leg will be the winner

Omnium Champion: The first crew to ross the finish line in the 7000m time trial, regardless of boat class.

Premier Club: The club that accrues the least points across any 3 categories. In the event of a tie, more categories will be included until there is a clear winner.
