Harry Manton

VIC | Melbourne University Boat Club

Harry “Hak” Manton is a bow-side sweep rower from Melbourne who has forged a strong career on both the Australian and American rowing stages. A Melbourne Grammar graduate, he went on to row at the University of California, Berkeley, where he became a consistent contributor to the Varsity Eight and helped secure IRA podium finishes, Pac-12 and MPSF titles, and victories over rivals Washington and Stanford.

Internationally, Harry represented Australia at the 2023 and 2024 World Rowing Under 23 Championships, finishing fourth in the Men’s Eight in Plovdiv before winning bronze in 2024. He stepped up to the senior squad in 2025, racing in the Men’s Eight at the World Rowing Cups in Varese and Lucerne, where the crew claimed a silver medal.

Across his collegiate career, Harry collected multiple accolades, including IRCA All-American honours, All-MPSF Team selection, and recognition as an IRCA Scholar Athlete. His first coach was Tom Abramowski, who introduced him to the sport and guided his early development.

Balancing relentless competition with academic distinction, Harry has established himself as a disciplined athlete with the drive to succeed at the highest levels. His crews know him as a fierce competitor with a sharp edge at bow, and his pre-race pump-up song, Shoot to Thrill by AC/DC, reflects his racing intensity.

Harry is currently a part of the Australian Men's Eight.
