Romy Cantwell

Romy Cantwell is a sculler from Williamstown, Victoria, and a member of Melbourne University Boat Club. She began rowing after a successful junior swimming career, drawn to the team environment and challenge of the sport.

In 2025, Romy announced herself on the international stage by winning Bronze in the Women’s Single Sculls at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships, following on from her sixth-place finish in the Women’s Double Sculls at the 2024 edition. Her domestic record is equally impressive, with multiple Australian Rowing Championship titles including gold in the U23 Women’s Double Sculls, U23 Women’s Quad Sculls, and the Open Women’s Eight in 2025, as well as back-to-back U23 single and double scull titles across 2024 and 2025. She also placed third in the Interstate Women’s Single at this year’s Nationals, highlighting her growing presence on the senior stage.

Currently studying a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Melbourne, Romy balances her academic pursuits with her elite rowing career. Her most memorable sporting moment to date was winning the Open Women’s Eight at the 2025 Australian Rowing Championships for MUBC, a performance that reflected both team unity and her own progression.

After her U23 medal, Romy now steps up to represent Australia in the Women’s Single Sculls at the 2025 World Rowing Championships, bringing both momentum and ambition into her senior campaign.

Romy is currently a member of the Australian Women's Single Sculls.
