Georgie Gleeson
VIC | Melbourne University Boat Club
Georgie Gleeson is a dynamic and versatile sweep rower from Melbourne, Victoria, known for her resilience, technical precision, and commitment to team success. A proud alumna of St Catherine’s School Melbourne and Monash University, Georgie now rows out of Melbourne University Boat Club and is a third-year scholar at the Hancock Prospecting National Training Centre.
Georgie’s rowing journey began under the guidance of her first coach, John Saunders. She quickly progressed through the domestic ranks to earn national selection and has since established herself as a key figure in Australia’s women’s sweep squad.
Her early international experiences came in 2022, when she raced across multiple boat classes including the pair, quad, and single at World Rowing Cups II and III and the World Rowing Championships. In 2023, she took a major step forward by securing a seat in the Australian Women’s Eight, a crew that achieved podium finishes throughout the season. Highlights included Gold at World Rowing Cup II, Bronze at World Rowing Cup III, and Bronze at the 2023 World Rowing Championships in Belgrade – an achievement she describes as her most memorable sporting moment to date.
In 2024, Georgie returned to international racing with a dual campaign, competing in both the four and the eight at World Rowing Cup I.
Off the water, Georgie enjoys heading to the beach, cycling, and cheering on her favourite AFL team. Her rowing is marked by a calm confidence in the bow seat and a love for the sport that shines through every performance.
With three seasons of senior international racing under her belt, Georgie remains focused on contributing to fast boats and building on the momentum of recent years.
Georgie is currently a member of the Australian Women's Pair Squad and Women's Eight.
