Hamish “Pope” Wynn-Pope is a bow-side sweep rower from Merricks, Victoria. A proud member of Melbourne University Boat Club, Hamish has steadily climbed the national ranks and now competes at the international level for Australia.
Hamish made his first mark on the world stage at the 2018 World Rowing Junior Championships, racing in the Junior Men’s Pair, where he gained invaluable experience against the world’s best. In 2024, he returned to international racing in the Men’s Four at World Rowing Cup I in Varese, continuing his development in the senior sweep squad.
His standout moment came at the 2024 Head of the Shanghai River Regatta, where he raced in Australia’s top crew at a prestigious global sprint event, describing it as his most memorable experience in the sport to date.
Hamish was first coached by Olympic silver medallist Matt Ryan, whose influence helped shape his technical foundation and competitive mindset. With golf as his favourite off-water hobby, Hamish brings a calm, focused approach to his rowing, precisely what you'd expect from someone with aspirations to race consistently at the World Cup and Championship level in 2025 and beyond.
