Kathryn Ross PLY

Kathryn Ross PLY has made an exceptional contribution to Australian rowing through a career defined by resilience and sustained excellence. Since taking up rowing in 2006, she quickly rose to become one of Australia’s most accomplished Paralympic athletes, winning the women’s single scull title in the 2007 National Championships before representing Australia at four Paralympic Games.

 

Ross won a silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics alongside John Maclean, having also claimed silver at the 2007 World Rowing Championships. She later partnered with Grant Bailey to win bronze at the 2010 World Championships before forming a highly successful combination with Gavin Bellis. Together they won three consecutive World Championship titles from 2013 to 2015 in the Mixed Double Sculls, cementing Ross’s place among the world's leading para-rowers. Across her career, she claimed four World Championship titles and in doing so played a central role in the development and visibility of para-rowing in Australia.

 

Beyond competition, Ross has made a lasting contribution through governance and advocacy, serving with Rowing ACT and Disability Sports Australia to promote inclusion and strengthen opportunities for future para-athletes.
