Mitch “Mitchy” Salisbury is a bow-side sweep rower from the small town of Mungungo, Queensland, with big ambitions on the international rowing stage. Now in his first year as a National Training Centre (NTC) scholar, Mitch has already made his mark through podium performances in the Under 23 ranks.
A proud product of Brisbane Boys' College and a member of KAND Rowing Club, Mitch claimed Silver in the U23 Men’s Four and Bronze in the U23 Men’s Pair at the 2023 and 2024 World Rowing Under 23 Championships. Domestically, he’s a back-to-back national champion in the U23 Men’s Pair (2023, 2024), adding to earlier wins in the U21 Pair and Coxed Four in 2021.
Currently studying a Bachelor of Education (Primary and Secondary) online through ACU, Mitch balances elite sport and academic life with the discipline and focus of a true professional. While other sports didn’t capture his interest growing up, it was rowing that gave him purpose and direction.
His goals for 2025 are clear: make an A-Final at a World Cup, break 6:30 in the Pair, and win a race at Henley Royal Regatta. Off the water, Mitch enjoys music and draws inspiration from the best, his most memorable sporting moment was watching both the Australian Men’s and Women’s Fours win Gold at the Tokyo Olympics, a moment that solidified his drive to reach the top.
