About the Role


Melbourne High School is an all boys academic select entry Victorian State School, located adjacent to the Yarra River in South Yarra, Melbourne.
 
We are currently looking for a PE/Rowing teacher who would be appointed as the Assistant Director of Rowing.
 
The job is 0.7 load, so working Saturday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday one week, and then Saturday, Wednesday, Thursday the following week. It would be teaching 2-3 junior PE classes (but we could find a senior class for the right person) and rowing. We have a bit of flexibility to go to 0.6 or 0.8 for the right applicant.
 
The successful applicant would teach Year 9 and/or Year 10 PE classes and be required to assist the Director of Rowing by undertaking the following tasks outlined below.
 

Key Responsibilities


The successful candidate should possess a deep and committed knowledge of rowing. They are to:

  • Attend to and administer the day-to-day operations of the Boat Club.
  • Assist the Director of Rowing in the many aspects of running a rowing program, including boat trailer and transport requirements, regatta entries, logistics, coaching education, rowing camps etc
  • Assist and advise the Rowing Parents Support Group (the MHS rowing fraternity)
  • Coordinate and manage the school’s Junior Rowing Program (Years 9 and 10) which currently has over 50 boys participating.
  • Establish training and learning programs for the school’s Junior rowers.
  • Coordinate the school’s team of Junior rowing coaches, guiding them through technical, tactical and selection activities.
