To ensure all athletes and participants enjoy a safe and rewarding sport, Rowing Australia is continuously working to build an effective and relevant coach accreditation program. This is supplemented with a variety of coach education resources. Our task is to ensure we have qualified coaches delivering safe and rewarding programs to all school, club and elite athletes.
The accreditation program signifies the commitment of Rowing Australia and all coaches within its community to ongoing and continuous education in the pursuit of more effective coaching.

National Rowing Coaching Accreditation Scheme
Rowing Australia (RA) has four coaching levels – Levels 1, 2, 3 and 4. See list below.
Reaccreditation:
Coaching accreditation lasts for four years, after which coaches need to reaccredit. You will need to list how you have earned the required number of points in both Practical Coaching and Personal Development over the last four years.
You are also required to complete and sign the Coach's Code of Ethics form.
Both of the below forms need to be completed.
Accredited coaches can update their contact details by logging onto the Rowing Australia Coaching Portal.

Level 1
The Level 1 course is delivered online and the cost is $180.
Level 2
Once you have been a Level 1 rowing coach for at least 12 months, or you have an exemption confirmed by the Participation and Education team, you can apply to complete the Level 2 Coaching Accreditation.
The Level 2 Coaching Accreditation incorporates 2 components:- Completion of online course consisting of 4 Modules.
- Completion of a one-day workshop in your State or Territory.
Upon completion of the online course, you will receive an email confirmation which you will need to forward to your State Rowing Association to reserve a place in their next available one-day workshop. The workshop will cover Rigging and Rowing Technique and includes assessment. The total cost of the course is $350. The link to the course is here.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Riggers
Rowing Australia also offers an online Riggers coaching accreditation course. This is an introduction to coaching indoor rowing using rowing ergometers. It is for anyone who wishes to deliver Rowing Australia’s Sporting Schools program called Riggers, including coaches, teachers and students over the age of 16 years.

Prerequisites
The prerequisites for each level coaching level are below. These have been set to ensure that the most appropriate and informative rowing-specific program is delivered. Please note you must be a currently accredited coach (i.e. not expired) before applying to accredit at a higher level.
Riggers | At least 16 years of age
Level 1 | At least 16 years of age
Level 2 | Level 1 completed & 1 year of coaching as a Level 1 coach
Level 3 | Level 2 completed & 1 year of coaching experience as a Level 2 coach
Level 4 | At least 1 year of coaching experience as a Level 3 coach
NB | It is recommended that all coaches undertake a first-aid certificate
