On repechage day at the Paris 2024 Paralympics rowing regatta, the final two Rowsellas crews secured their places in the Final A races.
The Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium set the stage for Erik Horrie OAM as her claimed first place in the PR1 Men’s Single Sculls repechage.
For the first 1500 meters, Italy’s Giacomo Perini set the pace, but Horrie OAM shifted into high gear, finishing just over two seconds ahead by the 2000-metre mark.
The PR3 Mixed Coxed Four faced a fierce contest with Italy, battling neck-and-neck throughout the 2000-metre course.
Toby Goffsassen, Tom Birtwhistle, Al Viney, Susannah Lutze, and coxswain Hannah Cowap displayed exceptional maturity and skill, ultimately holding off the Italians to cross the line in first place.
Tomorrow evening, all three Rowsellas crews will race for Australia’s first para-rowing gold medal.
With the momentum of today's victories and the strength of these remarkable athletes, anticipation is building for an unforgettable day of racing.
The entire nation will be cheering as they strive to make history in Paris.
