#ARC25 Day Two Preview: Who will be crowned Altschwager and Ayers successor?

By Nick Jones at the Lake Barrington International Rowing Course

For the first time in three years, the Australian Rowing Championships will not include para-rowing’s most dominant athletes, Nikki Ayers PLY OAM and Jed Altswchwager PLY OAM.

But their absence creates an opportunity for their successors to be crowned at #ARC25 during the PR3 Single Sculls events.

Newly appointed para-rowing Head Coach James Loveday will cast his eye over this field, as these races will lead to invitations to the Australian Rowing Team Selection Regatta happening late in April.

The Men’s PR3 Single Sculls will race at 12:45pm AEST with the Women racing for lanes at 1:55pm AEST.

In other #ARC25 races on Tuesday:

  • The 2024 World Rowing Under 23 Championship Silver Medal Men’s Double Sculls of Nick Blackman (Adelaide University Boat Club) and Dominic Frederico (Mercantile Rowing Club) will race in the Open event.

  • Repechages for those small boat races who missed out on today’s direct ticket to the finals will race all morning and most of the afternoon.

  • Coxed Fours will make their debut at #ARC25.
