Applications Open for the Flavia Gobbo OAM Bursary

The Flavia Gobbo OAM Bursary continues to support the next generation of Australian rowing talent, helping emerging athletes balance the demands of training, study and work while pursuing international representation.

Established in 2023 through a generous donation from former Rowing Australia Deputy Chair and High Performance Commission Chair Flavia Gobbo OAM and her husband James MacKenzie, the bursary provides annual financial support to athletes selected in Rowing Australia underage teams.

Each year, one male and one female athlete will receive a $5,000 grant, with a focus on supporting athletes committed to continuing their rowing journey, including those from rural and regional backgrounds.

A lifelong contributor to the sport, Flavia enjoyed success as an athlete before going on to play a major leadership role within Rowing Australia. She served as Deputy Chair and Chair of the High Performance Committee, helping guide transformational projects including the establishment of National Training Centres and the nationally managed Pathways Program.

With LA28 and the runway to Brisbane 2032 on the horizon, the bursary reflects Flavia’s ongoing commitment to supporting future Australian representatives on the pathway to Senior World Championships and Olympic Games teams.

Eligible applicants must be Australian citizens selected to a Rowing Australia underage team.
